Welcome to the privacy policy page for Anonymize Faces. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding your information when you use our application.
Anonymize Faces does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All face and person detection and all anonymization processing happen locally on your device. Your photos and videos — original or anonymized — are never uploaded anywhere by this app.
Our app is designed with privacy as its core purpose. We do not collect:
Anonymize Faces exists specifically to detect and obscure faces, so this section explains that process in full detail, separately from the general summary above.
What face data is created. When you pick a photo or video, Apple’s on-device Vision framework
analyzes it to locate faces (VNDetectFaceRectanglesRequest, and — depending on the redaction
style you choose — VNDetectFaceLandmarksRequest). This produces only geometric data: the pixel
coordinates of a bounding box around each face, and, for a few redaction styles, a small number of
facial landmark points (such as eye position or face outline) used purely to shape the redaction
correctly. The app does not create a face embedding, biometric template, or any other
representation designed to identify or re-identify a person, and this data cannot be used to
determine who a face belongs to.
How it’s used. This geometric data is used only to tell the app where to draw a blur, pixelation, solid block, or AI-generated replacement over each detected face. It is never used for facial recognition, identity verification, authentication, advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond producing the anonymized photo or video you requested.
Storage and retention. This face data exists only in memory while a photo or video is being processed, and is discarded as soon as that item finishes processing — at the very latest, when the app is closed. It is never written to disk on its own. The only things ever saved to disk are: (1) the anonymized output you choose to save, which by design no longer contains the original, identifiable face pixels in the areas that were detected and redacted, and (2) for Pro subscribers who use the optional in-app History feature, a small downscaled thumbnail of that same already-anonymized output (never the original face) — stored locally on the device and deletable by the user at any time from within the app.
Sharing. Face data is never shared with any third party, and is never transmitted anywhere, including to us. Detection and processing happen entirely on-device; the app makes no network calls that could send photos, videos, detected face regions, or any data derived from them off the device.
Storage location. Nowhere off-device. All face data lives only in your device’s memory during processing, on hardware you control, for as long as it takes to produce your anonymized result.
Deletion. Because face data is never persisted beyond the single operation that created it, there is nothing to separately request deletion of — it stops existing on its own once that photo or video finishes processing. Anonymized results saved to your Photos library, and History thumbnails (both of which never contain the original detected face data, only the already-redacted output), can be deleted by you at any time through the Photos app or the in-app History screen.
By default, Anonymize Faces removes location, timestamp, and device metadata from anonymized copies before saving them. Pro subscribers can optionally choose to write a custom location and/or date into an anonymized file instead of stripping it — this is a value you choose yourself, written locally by the app on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
The app requests permission to save anonymized results into a new Photos album. This permission is used only for saving. Picking the photos or video you want to anonymize uses Apple’s own system picker, which does not require any library-wide permission at all.
Pro subscribers can optionally keep a local log of past anonymization runs (a small thumbnail and basic details, not full copies of your photos) so they can browse them again later within the app. This history is stored only on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be cleared at any time from within the app.
Anonymize Faces Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed and managed entirely by Apple through the App Store and your Apple ID. We do not receive, process, or store your payment information — that transaction is governed by Apple’s own privacy practices. Our app does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use crash reporting tools, since that would mean data about your device leaving your device — which runs against the entire purpose of this app.
Since we don’t collect or receive any of your data, there is no server-side risk of it being compromised through us. The security of anything the app processes or stores is protected by your device’s own built-in security features.
Our application does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13, because it does not collect personal information from anyone at all.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” at the top.
Since we don’t collect any personal data, there is no personal information held by us for you to access, correct, update, or delete. Everything the app processes or stores remains on your own device and under your own control at all times.
