Anonymize Faces Support

Does Anonymize Faces upload my photos or videos anywhere?

No. All face detection and anonymization happens entirely on your device — nothing is ever uploaded to us or to any third party. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.

Will this change or delete my original photos?

No. Your originals are never modified. Anonymized copies are saved to a separate "Anonymized" album in your Photos library, so your original photos and videos stay exactly as they were.

The app missed a face — how do I fix that?

On the review screen, you can draw a box by hand around anything the automatic detection missed (a face, or anything else you'd like covered), and it will be anonymized using the same style as everything else.

A Realistic Face result looks odd or glitchy — is something broken?

Not necessarily. On-device AI generation quality depends on how large and clearly visible the original face is in your photo. You can regenerate any individual face after processing — tap it and choose to try again, at no extra cost, as many times as you like.

Why can't I use Realistic Face or the other Pro features on video?

Video anonymization currently uses pixelation only. AI face generation works frame-by-frame with no awareness of neighboring frames, which would cause visible flickering on video, and is also too slow to run at video frame rates on-device today.

How do I unlock Pro features (Realistic Face, video anonymization, custom metadata, history)?

Pro is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription, purchasable from within the app. See our Terms of Use for full subscription terms.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed entirely through your Apple ID, not within the app itself. Go to your iPhone's Settings app → your name at the top → Subscriptions, find Anonymize Faces, and cancel there.

Does the app remove location and other metadata from my photos?

Yes, by default location, timestamp, and device metadata are stripped from every anonymized copy. Pro subscribers can optionally choose to write their own custom location and/or date instead, in Settings.

I'm not sure if I'll like it — can I try Pro before subscribing?
